What is Cataract?

Clouding of lens of the eye is called cataract. It is the most common reversible cause of blindness in the world. The treatment of cataract is surgery only. The name of the surgery is Phacoemulsification wherea small microincision(2.2-3 mm)is made to liquify the cataractous lens and absorb it and later a foldable lens is implanted through this small self sealing incision. This procedure gives best visual acuity , has faster healing time and less discomfort to the patient.

When to see a doctor
